Who loves holidays? I DOOOOO! Thanksgiving is just around the corner, folks. There is nothing better than gathering around some scrumptious food to celebrate all the wonderful things in your life. I’ll be going home to North Carolina for a few days to celebrate and I could not be more excited. I was lazing about a few mornings ago when I was hit with a pang of festiveness. So I ran to the fridge, pulled out some cranberries and started to bake a cranberry pie.

Image

This was by far one of the most delicious pies my mouth has ever beheld. It was so buttery and flaky, sweet, yet tart. Such a success.

Join me through a pictorial journey of pieness.

I love how the sugar made the cranberries look frosty and snowy!

More snowy berries!

Ta dah! Please excuse the brown lumps on the pie…I didn’t have any pretty sugar to throw on top so I said to myself “Ohhh brown sugar should work juuuust fine!” Wrong. But it was still super yums.

Look at that flaky crust! I’m so proud of how this turned out. I made the crust a titch too thin, but it didn’t affect the taste one bit!

Image

I don’t know why more people don’t make cranberry pies! Cranberries, when in season are cheap and easy to get. I also found out they have high amounts of pectin, so they don’t run too much or make the crust soggy. People, make a cranberry pie this season it will be worth it!!! Promise ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m starting to get a little worried here folks. I feel like Christmas is swiftly approaching and I still don’t have as many presents done as I would like. I promised myself I would make all my presents this year, either by knitting, crocheting, pottery, painting, cross stitch, WHATEVER. It just has to be made by me. Well I have a pretty large family and that’s a big order to fill. I did, however, start working on a pretty special present yesterday.

Image

I received this yarn from the basket I won from the New York Yarn Crawl. It’s Berroco Lodge in Redwood. I’m really enjoying this yarn and the colors are so beautiful. I’m loving the hand-spun look as well. I got ten balls of it so I’m going to make a blanket or throw of it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yesterday was such a lovely day I just had to go do some crochet in the park. I laid out the blanket and took in as much sun as I could get before it set for the night. I didn’t get very much crochet done since a student approached me for an interview for a school project, but I still loved people watching in the Square.

This handsome devil even joined me!

Obsessed with this yarn. Ha! It’s just so soft and squishy! And I wanted to show off my manicure. I had to get one for a shoot I did a couple days ago.

Dan’s always a good sport about letting me take pictures of him. He hates pictures..ha so opposite of me. But I just can’t help it!

“Dan take a picture of me crocheting!!!”

La te da making a blanket!

This is one of my favorite sections from the yarn. The colors are so vibrant but not in a cheesy way.

Right now the throw looks more like a scarf than anything but I really hope it turns out okay.

Hope you’ve all had lovely weekends! And now I hope you all have a great week ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

My favorite time of year is coming to a closing and Winter will soon be upon us. Womp ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Yesterday was a most beautiful Autumn day! I feel as though it may have been one of the last so I took advantage and did some lovely park frolicking and picture taking. I now live half a block from Thompkins Square here in the city. Thompkins is a nice little park in the heart of Alphabet City, which is part of the East Village (the seedier, grittier part :p ) for those of you who aren’t familiar with it. I moseyed on over and I beheld a most glorious sight!!! LEAVES WERE FALLING EVERYWHEREEEEE! I love when the wind blows and colors of red, orange, and yellow flow everywhere. It makes my heart sing a joyful tune. ๐Ÿ™‚

Image

I’m sure most people in the park thought I was a nut. I was skipping around in the leaves, taking pictures to my hearts content of more leaves and petting dogs.

Image

Whilst out I also came about a sweet farmer’s market. I was just trying to take some nice pictures of some cute veggies, but apparently people don’t like having their vegetables photographed. I kept getting shooed away. HA! ๐Ÿ˜›

I also had toย of courseย get some snaps of my blanket. I suppose a girl taking pictures of a quarter of a blanket in the park didn’t exactly help my “nuttiness”. hehe

Image

I adding FORTY hexies yesterday after my park journey. Sometimes I feel as though this blanket will never be finished. It’s just such a huge process making the hexies with all the different colors and no repetitions, crocheting, and cutting, and more yarn, and so on and so forth.

Dear Strawberry Patch, please be done soon. I love you, but for realz, I’m getting a bit impatient. Love, Vic.

Hey Everyone! So I’ve been incredibly m.i.a as of late. This is all due to the fact that I’ve been up to my eyeballs in stress. Moving in New York City is honestly one of the most frustrating, disappointing, and stressful things any person will every do in their life. I can’t tell you how many meltdowns I’ve had. BUT, that’s all done and over with now! I have finally got a place ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m now a resident of the East Village. Woop WOOP!!!! Excitement people!

Over the past few days I have been unpacking and settling in to my new place. My poor hands and fingers were all gnarled and bruised from moving and grabbing, but I did manage to do some crochet granny squares today. I just missed it, darn it!

Square number 8: Sailing Along pattern from 50 Fabulous Crochet Squares. This one is definitely one of my favorites thus far. The colors remind me of a daffodil ๐Ÿ™‚

Square number 9:

Square number 10: Breezy Filet in 50 Fabulous Crochet Squares. Although it looks super elementary, it gave me a fit and a half. I don’t know what it was about this one..it even looks kinda wonky.

Image

Square number 11:ย http://www.pinterest.com/pin/245094404694319561/. I attempted to block this one to look more even and “nice”. It made it look TEN TIMES WORSE. I think I’m bad at blocking…

Granny square number 12: Moody Blues from 50 Fabulous Crochet Squares

Image

Granny Square 13: Quadruple Shells from 50 Fabulous Crochet Squares. I LUH UHVE this square and I’m particularly proud of it too! I improved the border by adding the slip stitch, or I suppose in this case it’d be called a surface stitch to give it some more color. Originally it was just going to be the blue and green but I love the way the white looks against the blue. ย SOOOO PROUD ๐Ÿ˜€

Image

Being stressed out the wazoo and on the brink of a mass murder I was trying to find some quiet moments in the chaos and “attempt” to document the move.

THIS is what I was dealing with times ten. It has since gotten better ๐Ÿ™‚

Image

EEEEEEKKKKK!

Image

Unpacking the yarnnnn! ๐Ÿ™‚

Some of my knick knackery

Yayayayayayay for folded sheets!

My neutral yarns all packed away in their cozy shelf.

Trying to find the quiet moments…

Until next time (hopefully with some pictures of a more organized apartment!)
